U.S. Department of Education Secretary, Miguel Cardona, recently write a letter addressed to parents and educations regarding the latest recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) on the impact COVID has had on children with disabilities.

The letter addresses the needs of students with disabilities. It addresses how parents and educations should leverage the use of a child’s individualized education program (IEP) or Section 504 to ensure that children with disabilities have protections in place to protect and maintain in-person learning; layered COVID prevention strategies and ensuring that students with disabilities receive special education and related services within the least restrictive environment.
